WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 50, Chapter VII, of the Indigenous Peoples' Rights Act of 1997 or Republic Act 8371, the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) may constitute the Consultative Body, consisting of the traditional leaders, elders and representatives from the women and youth sectors of the different ICCs/IPs, from time to time to advise it on matters relating to the problems, aspirations and interests of the ICCs/IPs;

WHEREAS, the Commission desires to constitute the Consultative Body sometime in 2004 for the purpose of seeking recommendations on certain proposed policies and other urgent matters affecting ICCs/IPs;

WHEREAS, presented for the consideration of the Body is the proposed administrative order providing for the guidelines on the constitution and operationalization of the consultative body in accordance with said Section 50, R.A. No. 8371 and other pertinent provisions and implementing rules;

WHEREAS, said proposed guidelines will ensure the institutionalization of the consultation process at the community, provincial, regional and national levels and encourage widest possible ICCs/IPs representation and empowerment;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion duly seconded, be it

RESOLVED, as it is hereby done, to approved ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 01, series of 2003 providing for the GUIDELINES FOR THE CONSTITUTION AND OPERATIONALIZATION OF THE CONSULTATIVE BODY AS PROVIDED FOR IN SECTION 50, R.A. NO. 8371

RESOLVED also that copies of the said Administrative Order shall be properly registered and published as may be required by provision of law.
