COMPLIANCE TO R.A. 8747 - YEAR 2000 READINESS ACT



Section 5 of Republic Act No. 8747, otherwise known as the œPhilippine Year 2000 Readiness Act  issued on 01 June 1999, provides that all government entities, private corporations, partnerships, associations, and individuals covered by Section 4(i) of this Act are deemed as engaging in mission-critical activities and therefore are required to disclose in accordance with Section 4(j) of this Act a Year 2000 statement including their contingency plans formulated to address the millennium bug problem.

In compliance with the above requirement and further to Flag State Administration Advisory No. 11 dated 11 April 1999, you are requested to accomplish the attached Y2K Readiness Disclosure Form and submit the same to the Office of the Administrator at the end of each month commencing 31 August 1999. Please note that the template of the said questionnaire can be downloaded from the MARINA website: www.marina.gov.ph.

It is further informed that pursuant to Section 6 of said Act, non-disclosure of a Year 2000 statement shall be a disputable presumption that your systems and products are not Y2K ready for purposes of any action brought by another party against you.
