[ MTC RESOLUTION NO. 13, S. 2009, December 17, 2009 ]

APPROVING THE ACCREDITATION FEE FOR SHIP SECURITY OFFICER (SSO)



WHEREAS, the Maritime Safety Committee, at its Eighty-First Session, adopted the amendment to Chapter  VI of the 1978 STCW Convention, as amended, which added a new Regulation VI/5, entitled œMandatory Minimum Requirements for the issuance of Certificate of Proficiency for Ship Security Officer  which entered into force on 01 January 2008;

WHEREAS, prior to the above-cited amendment, the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), in coordination with the Office of Transport Security (OTS), accredits training provider/centers offering courses for Ship Security Officers (SSO) and Company Security Officer (CSO) in conformity with the relevant provisions of the Safety of Life (SOLAS) Convention and the ISPS Code;

WHEREAS, the Council, in its 08 October 2009 meeting approved the transfer of the accreditation of training course on SSO from MARINA to the MTC in accordance with the STCW amendment and the standards and procedures in the accreditation thereof included under MTC Resolution No. 3, S-1998;

WHEREAS, there is a need to establish the accreditation fees to be paid by the applicant training center in order that a certificate of accreditation could be issued.

NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the above premises, the Council resolves as it is hereby resolved that the accreditation fee for the Ship Security Officer (SSO) course shall be Nineteen Thousand Pesos (Php 19,000) to be paid before the issuance of the accreditation certificate.

RESOLVE FINALLY, that the above rates shall be included in the œTable of Fees for MTC Accredited Course Programs and Other Fees  as attachment to Resolution No. 08, S-1999.
