INTERIM REQUIREMENTS IN THE QUALIFICATIONS OF ASSESSORS IN MARITIME TRAINING CENTERS
WHEREAS, Section 9.2 of Resolution No. 03, S-1998 requires that assessors in the training centers who are responsible in assessing the knowledge, understanding, and skills of trainees in a particular course programme shall be qualified in accordance with Annex 2 of the said Resolution.
WHEREAS, paragraph (C) on the qualification standards for assessors in Annex 2 requires that such must have attended a training course in assessment techniques.
WHEREAS, such training course for assessors based on the IMO Model Course 3.12 is not yet in place and may only be fully operationalized in the first semester of 1999.
NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the above premises, resolve as it is hereby resolved that:

WHEREAS, paragraph (C) on the qualification standards for assessors in Annex 2 requires that such must have attended a training course in assessment techniques.
WHEREAS, such training course for assessors based on the IMO Model Course 3.12 is not yet in place and may only be fully operationalized in the first semester of 1999.
NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the above premises, resolve as it is hereby resolved that:
- Pending the full implementation of the training programme for assessors by the MTC based on the IMO Model Course 3.12, training centers may, in the interim, designate assessors for accreditation under the revised standards, provided such persons have completed a training in the Special Training Programme for Maritime Instructors. (IMO Model Course 6.09)
- Provided, however, that as soon as the required training for assessors is fully operationalized, training centers must ensure that assigned assessors shall undergo such training programme.
