[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 8656, June 14, 1998 ]

AN ACT ESTABLISHING A NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL IN BARANGAY HONDAGUA, MUNICIPALITY OF LOPEZ, PROVINCE OF QUEZON TO BE KNOWN AS THE HONDAGUA NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. There shall be established, under the direct supervision of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports a national high school in Barangay Hondagua, Municipality of Lopez, Province of Quezon, to be known as the Hondagua National High School, integrating therewith the existing Lopez Comprehensive National High School-Matinik Annex located at Barangay Matinik, Municipality of Lopez, Province of Quezon.

SEC. 2. All personnel, records, assets and liabilities of the Lopez Comprehensive National High School - Matinik Annex are hereby transferred to and absorbed by the Hondagua National High School.

SEC. 3. The said national high school shall provide secondary education, training and instructions primarily to students residing in Barangay Hondagua and other adjoining barangays of Lopez, Quezon, but shall not refuse admission to students residing elsewhere in Lopez and nearby municipalities of Quezon Province.

SEC. 4. The Secretary of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports shall issue such rules and regulations as may be necessary to carry out the purpose of this Act.

SEC. 5. The amount necessary to carry out the provisions of this Act shall be included in the General Appropriations Act of the year following its enactment into law and thereafter.

SEC. 6. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.

This Act which originated in the House of Representatives was finally passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate on August 7, 1997 and February 6, 1998, respectively.
