[ BAI MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 03, S. 2008, February 26, 2008 ]

LIFTING THE TEMPORARY BAN-ON THE IMPORTATION OF FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE-SUSCEPTIBLE ANIMALS, THEIR PRODUCTS AND BY-PRODUCTS ORIGINATING FROM THE UNITED KINGDOM



WHEREAS, based on the final report submitted by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs of the United Kingdom to the Office International des Epizooties (OIE) last 18 February 2008, the FMD-free status without vaccination of the United Kingdom has been restored;

WHEREAS, based on the evaluation of the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), the risk of contamination from importing FMD-susceptible animals and their products from the United Kingdom is negligible;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JESUS EMMANUEL M. PARAS, Officer-in-Charge of the Department of Agriculture, by the powers vested in me by law, do hereby lift the temporary ban on the importation of FMD-susceptible animals and their products from the United Kingdom.

All import transactions of the above products shall be in accordance with the existing rules and regulations of the Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Animal Industry and National Meat Inspection Service (DA-BAI-NMIS).

All orders, rules and regulations or parts thereof, which are inconsistent with the provisions of this order, are hereby repealed or amended accordingly.

This ORDER shall take effect immediately.
