INSPECTION FOR LPG-FED TAXI UNITS



As part of the policy to continuously coordinate with other government agencies to improve public land-based transport, the Board is presently taking part in the Health Assessment Study on LPG Taxi spearheaded by the Department of Health (DOH).

On the other hand, as part of the transport modernization program, the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) has issued a policy encouraging the use of alternative fuels such as LPG-fed engines.

Pending the result of the DOH study, the Board, in the exercise of its power to promulgate rules and regulations regarding public land-based transport hereby directs all taxi operators to secure the services for installation or conversion of LPG-fed engines only from DTI-accredited converters/companies. The corresponding accreditation documents shall be attached to the application/petition.

All units with LPG-fed engines shall be subjected to the Land Transportation Office (LTO)/MVIS for inspection, with the corresponding Report submitted to the Board.

  1. For new LPG-fed units, the LTO Inspection Report shall be attached to the application/petition and evaluated/reviews by the Technical Evaluation Division (TED).
  2. For those existing LPG-fed units, no confirmation shall be allowed without the necessary LTO Inspection report submitted to the Management Information Division (MID).

This memorandum shall take effect fifteen (15) days following its publication in at least two (2) newspapers of general circulation. Let three (3) copies hereof be filed with the UP Law Center pursuant to Presidential Memorandum Circular No. 11, dated 09 October 1992.
