[ POEA GOVERNING BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 06, S. 2012, March 22, 2012 ]

LIFTING THE DEPLOYMENT BAN TO SOUTH SUDAN



WHEREAS, Advisory No. 7, Series of 2005 was issued on 30 March 2005 which included Sudan (except Khartoum and the Kenana Sugar Plantation in the White nile) in the list of restricted markets or countries where deployment of OFWs is prohibited, due to its unstable peace and order situation;

WHEREAS, pursuant to POEA Governing Board Resolution No. 1, Series of 2012 dated 13 January 2012, POEA issued Advisory No. 02, Series of 2012 imposing a total deployment ban to South Sudan and deferred the processing and deployment of all OFWs bound to said country until its political and security conditions have normalized;

WHEREAS, in its 06 March 2012 letter, the DFA informed the DOLE that it has lowered the crisis Alert Level in South Sudan, from Alert Level 3 to Alert Level 1 upon the recommendation of the Philippine Embassy in Cairo, Egypt and the Philippine Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya.
 

NOW, THEREFORE, the POEA Governing Board, in a meeting duly convened, RESOLVES AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, to lift the deployment ban to South Sudan and to resume the processing and deployment of OFWs to said country.

The POEA is hereby directed to immediately issue the guidelines to implement this Resolution.
