[ PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1098, February 08, 1977 ]

RESETTING THE DATE OF THE REGIONAL PLEBISCITE IN REGIONS IX AND XII AND IN THE PROVINCES OF PALAWAN, DAVAO DEL SUR AND SOUTH COTABATO

WHEREAS, there is a widespread clamor as shown by the results of a survey to postpone the date of the Regional Plebiscite scheduled for February 21, 1977 as provided under Presidential Decree No. 1092;

WHEREAS, there is merit to the contention that a longer time is needed to enable the barangay voters in the areas affected to discuss more extensively and to understand more fully the questions being submitted for their determinations;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers in me vested by the Constitution, do hereby decree and order that the holding of the regional plebiscite in the provinces and cities of Regions IX and XII and in the provinces of Palawan, including the City of Puerto Princesa, Davao del Sur, excluding the City of Davao, and South Cotabato, including the City of General Santos, set on February 21, 1977 under Section 1 of Presidential Decree No. 1092 is hereby reset on March 17, 1977.

This Decree shall take effect immediately.

DONE in the City of Manila, this 25th day of February, in the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Seventy-Seven.
