Be it enacted, by the Semite and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:

SECTION 1. Section one of Act Numbered Twenty-nine hundred and fifty-seven, as amended by Act Numbered Thirty-one hundred and eighty-five, is hereby amended to read as follows: 

"SECTION 1. A board is hereby created which shall be known as the Board on Textbooks and shall have charge of the selection and approval of textbooks to be used in all colleges and schools of the Government. The use of the textbooks selected and approved in accordance with the provisions hereof shall be obligatory for a period of at least six years from and after the date of their approval: Provided, That the Board on Textbooks may, if there are sufficient reasons, provide otherwise as regards civics and history."

SEC. 2. All acts or parts of acts inconsistent with the provisions hereof are hereby repealed.

SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
