[ PPP MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 61, s. 1993, October 25, 1993 ]
GRAINS PRODUCTION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM (GPEP) MONITORING, FORMS AND GUIDELINES AND, IMPLEMENTATION OF PILOT DEMONSTRATION PROJECTS FOR SEED PRODUCTION AND APPROPRIATE RICE GROWING TECHNOLOGY
This Memorandum Circular supplements MC No. 28, s. 1993 dated June 1, 1993.
Attached is our Agency's format and guidelines which shall be used to monitor and evaluate the participation of our National and Provincial Irrigation Systems/Offices in the implementation of GPEP*.
The identified target key grain areas on a regional and provincial levels are already incorporated in NIA-GPEP Form No. 1.
For Calendar Years 1993/94 and 1994/95, farmers in the identified key grain areas/provinces can avail of one free 40-kilogram bag of certified paddy rice seeds and, retention of the deferred tax payment subsidy scheme for imported fertilizers.
One major component is the establishment of two pilot demonstration projects: a) one hectare for adopting appropriate rice growing technologies and, b) twenty hectares for organized rice seedling production.
Implementation of the two pilot demonstration projects will commence this dry season cropping and will be sustained up to year 1998 in each of the 35 key grain areas/provinces. The sites will be located in either our National or Communal Irrigation System.
In this connection, all officials concerned are directed to provide full assistance and support to this particular undertaking and, provide regular feedback as prescribed.
