AMENDMENT TO MC TITLED œREVERSION OF YEARLY TESTING AND RESEALING OF TAXIMETER 



This Board recently issued MC No. 2010-002 effective January 23, 2010 titled: œReversion of Yearly Testing and Resealing of Taximeter . In said MC, the Board announced the expiration of the Contract of Lease on use of the regular revenue for testing and resealing purposes of taximeters. It also decreed the suspension of the implementation of MC No.2008-020 dated November 3, 2008 and directed the enforcement of MC No. 2007-040 œRe: Yearly Testing and Resealing of Taximeters . It also set forth the pertinent fees and the schedule based upon the ending Plate Nos. of the units.

After further consideration, so as to obviate added costs on the operators and to minimize administrative burdens on the part of the Board, this MC No. 2010-002 is hereby amended, so that the above testing and resealing shall no longer be yearly or annually, but the same shall be biannually or twice a year thereafter, starting this year pursuant to Revised Order No. 1, Sec. 68 thereof, which states that:

œSec 68. Testing and sealing of taximeters. - Every taxicab shall be provided with a taximeter which must be tested and sealed by the Commission.

All taximeters shall be presented to the Commission (now Board) for testing and sealing twice a year as provided for by law. The testing and sealing of taximeters shall be effected upon such dates to be determined by the Commission (now Board) .

It is further amended and mandated, that the sticker will now be used as marking on the unit in the body and inside the motor vehicle. A penalty of Three Thousand (Php 3,000.00) shall be imposed on the 1st Offense for not using the sticker as marking of the unit; b) suspension for six (6) months for 2nd Offense; and c) cancellation and/or revocation of CPC for 3rd Offense.

This Memorandum Circular supersedes and amends all issuances inconsistent herewith and shall take effect fifteen (15) days following its publication in a newspaper of general circulation and filing of three (3) copies hereof with the UP Law Center pursuant to Presidential Memorandum Circular No. 11 dated October 9, 1992.
