[ PRC BOARD OF MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY RESOLUTION NO. 11, S. 2009, August 19, 2009 ]

GUIDELINES FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE REFRESHER COURSE FOR THE THREE-TIME FLUNKERS IN THE BOARD LICENSURE EXAMINATION FOR MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST



WHEREAS, Section 19 of R.A. No. 5527, as amended, known as the œPhilippine Medical Technology Act of 1969,  provides that œno further examinations shall be given  to a candidate in the Board Licensure Examination for Medical Technologists unless and until he shall have completed twelve (12) months refresher course in an accredited laboratory  x x x after his failure to qualify for the third time; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Medical Technology, after consultations with the Philippine Association of Schools of Medical Technology & Public Health (PASMETH) and the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists (PAMET), prepared a course of study which shall be undertaken and completed by three-time flunkers in the Board Licensure Examination for Medical Technologists before they are admitted to their fourth examination;

NOW THEREFORE, the Board RESOLVES, as it is hereby RESOLVED, to prescribe and adopt the œCourse of Study  as the œGuideline in the Implementation of Refresher Course ; appended hereto as Annex œA * and made an integral part of this Resolution. The following guidelines shall be observed:

1. The Course of Study shall be offered and operated/administered by a school, college or university whose courses in Medical Technology are recognized or accredited by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

2. The schools, colleges or universities that will offer and operate/administer the said courses shall obtain from the Board of Medical Technology a Certificate of Accreditation of such courses.

3. Upon completion of the course, the school/college/university shall issue a Certificate of Completion of the Refresher Course, with the seal of the school/college/university, to the three-time flunker.

4. The three-time flunker shall file an application for the licensure examination with the authenticated copy of the Certificate.

5. The Certificate is valid within two (2) years from date of issuance and may be used for not more than three (3) examinations. Thereafter, a new certificate shall be required.

This Resolution shall take effect after fifteen (15) days following its full and complete publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation in the Philippines.

Let copies of this Resolution be furnished the deans of schools, colleges and universities, public and private, offering Medical Technology Program as well as to the President of the Philippine Association of Schools of Medical Technology & Public Health (PASMETH) and the President of the accredited professional organization, the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists (PAMET) for dissemination to concerned individuals and/or sectors.
