NEW VISA ARRANGEMENTS FOR FILIPINO WORKERS HIRED IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA ™S LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS (LNG) PROJECT



The Embassy of Papua New Guinea in Manila has informed the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) of their country ™s new visa arrangements for Filipino workers hired in its Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Project.   The new visa arrangements, which aim to facilitate PNG ™s assessment and visa application process, will exempt Filipino workers from submitting medical examination results and certificate of character assessment.  It will also exempt Filipino workers from paying the Maintenance Guarantee Bond.

Under the new arrangements, the approved LNG contractors will provide a written undertaking confirming that a) they have assessed the applicant to be a person of good character; b) the applicant is fit and healthy; and c) when an employee ceases to work for the LNG project, either through resignation or  termination, they will be repatriated to their country of origin without delay by the EPC or their sub-contractors within seven (7) days.

Filipino workers bound for PNG will only have to submit the aforementioned undertaking relevant to their LNG employment contract, together with the usual documents required for processing by the POEA.
