COMPATIBILITY OF SCANNING/DETECTION EQUIPMENT IN PPA PORTS
To ensure that the requirements of the International Maritime Organization on port security screening are sufficiently met, the monitoring of compliance and strict implementation of the following are hereby enjoined.
The International Ship and Port Facility Security Code and SOLAS amendments 2002 require among others:
In Order to comply with these stringent port security screening requirements and to standardize minimum specifications and capability, port and/or terminal operators intending or are being required by the Authority to purchase security and surveillance equipments, specifically set(s) of Baggage x-ray Machines (BXM); Walk through Metal Detectors and/or closed circuit televisions cameras, must submit to the Office of the AGM for Operators through the Port Police Department all proposal from suppliers together with brochures and technical specification of said equipment for evaluation and approval of the AGM for Operations.

The International Ship and Port Facility Security Code and SOLAS amendments 2002 require among others:
1. Security equipment must be capable of detecting nuclear, biological and chemical properties (Part A 15.11.9); and weapons or equipment, including weapons of mass destruction (Part A 15.11.5);
2. The port facility officer may recommend amendments relating to the removal, alteration or replacement of permanent barriers security and surveillance equipment and systems previously considered essential in maintaining the security of the port facility (Part A 16.60)
