LIFTING OF TEMPORARY BAN ON THE IMPORTATION OF FMD-SUSCEPTIBLE ANIMALS, THEIR PRODUCTS AND BY-PRODUCTS ORIGINATING FROM JAPAN



WHEREAS, in the meeting of the OIE Scientific Commission for Animal Diseases held in Paris from 1 to 4 February 2011, Japan was recognized as "FMD free country without vaccination" in accordance with Article 8.5.9 of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code;

WHEREAS, Japan's FMD control measures and surveillance efforts were scientifically sufficient which fulfills the conditions relating to the recovery of the free status;

WHEREAS, the Philippines import FMD susceptible animals, their products and by-products from Japan;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, PROCESO J. ALCALA, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, by the powers vested in me by law, do hereby lift the temporary ban on the importation of FMD-susceptible animals, their products and by-products originating from Japan.

All orders, rules and regulations or parts thereof, which are inconsistent with the provisions of this order are hereby repealed or amended accordingly.

This ORDER shall take effect immediately.
