EARLY WARNING DEVICE (EWD)



In compliance to the instruction of the Honorable Secretary of DOTC, you are hereby directed to:

1. Maximize public information drive on the public safety aspect of the EWD requirement pursuant to the country's international commitment to comply with the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Signs and Signals as implemented under LOI 229 and Administrative Order No. 1 Series of 1973.

2. Technical compliance shall be based on the specifications as provided under the law. Sourcing of EWDs shall be left to the end users without any recourse to accreditation.

3. No vehicle shall be registered for both new and renewal without presentation of the EWD.

4. A vehicle stalled, disabled or parked for thirty minutes or more in any street or highway, the owner or user shall install the EWD* four meters to the front (yellow) and rear (red). Failure to do so shall cause the apprehension of the driver and the imposition of the appropriate fine during adjudication.

5. No employee shall engage in the solicitation or sale of EWD to the public.
