[ LTO MEMORANDUM, November 06, 1995 ]

USE OF EXPIRED COMMEMORATIVE PLATES AND UNAUTHORIZED PERSONAL PLATES

It has been observed that there are still a number of motor vehicles which are continuously using commemorative plates despite the expiration of the authority therefor granted to them by the Office of the President in violation of existing law, rules and regulations, thereby subjecting the same to confiscation and sanctions thereunder.

Likewise there are many motor vehicles being operated on the public highways sporting plates with names of persons, car manufacturers and/or dealers even after they have been sold already, and other unnecessary names/designs of number plates violative of the provisions of Sec. 18 of R.A. 4136 and implementing circulars/orders of this Office.

In order to safeguard public interest, you are hereby directed to apprehend these vehicles and confiscate the plates effective immediately and impose the appropriate sanctions under the law and rules against whomsoever are liable for the violations.

A weekly report of your apprehension/confiscation should be submitted to the undersigned.

For strict compliance.
