[ PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1880, September 01, 1983 ]

GRANTING PHILIPPINE CITIZENSHIP TO WILLIAM UY.

WHEREAS, William Uy, a citizen of the Republic of China and a permanent resident of the Philippines for almost thirty (30) years, has manifested his desire to become a Philippine Citizen;

WHEREAS, it has been his wish to make the Philippines his permanent home to which he shall forever owe and pledge his allegiance and loyalty;

WHEREAS, during the entire period of his stay in the Philippines, he has mingled socially with our people and has embraced and practiced our traditions/customs and shared with us our aspirations;

WHEREAS, he has, by his long and continuous service to the Filipino people as outstanding Industrialist and Philanthropist, proven himself worthy of all the rights, privileges and prerogatives of a citizen of this country;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby grant Philippine citizenship to William Uy with all the rights, privileges and prerogatives appurtenant thereto, Provided he takes his oath of allegiance within thirty (30) days herefrom.

This Decree shall take effect immediately.

DONE in the City of Manila, this 1st day of September, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and eighty-three.
