CHINA IMMIGRATION INTENSIFIES INSPECTION OF FOREIGNERS

Adopted: 03 November 2014
Date Filed: 05 January 2015

The Department of Foreign Affairs reported that China Immigration has recently intensified inspection of foreigners to ensure their legal entry to the said country.

According to the report, this action by the Chinese authorities was due to the rising number of foreigners attempting to enter China without proper documentation and the increasing cases of overstaying foreigners in the country. The report also mentioned about the launching by several Chinese cities, such as Beijing and Shanghai, of a 72-hour visa free policy for visitors from several countries who have valid plane tickets to a third country last January 2014.

The public is strongly warned against travelling to China without proper documentation and for those who are already in China, not to overstay their visas. Foreigners caught violating the country ™s visa regulations face stiff penalties such as fines, imprisonment and deportation.

The public is hereby also informed that the Philippine Embassy in Beijing maintains a website and a Yahoo Group where regular advisories, reminders and announcements on relevant Chinese visa policies are posted as part of their efforts to assist Overseas Filipinos Workers in China.

For the information of all concerned.
