[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 6843, January 05, 1990 ]

AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION NINETY-SIX OF REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED FORTY-FOUR HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-SEVEN, ENTITLED "AN ACT CREATING THE CITY OF SAN CARLOS IN PANGASINAN," BY ALLOWING QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF SAN CARLOS TO VOTE IN THE PROVINCIAL ELECTIONS OF THE PROVINCE OF PANGASINAN



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. Amendment. — Section Ninety-six of Republic Act Numbered Forty-four hundred and eighty-seven entitled "An Act Creating the City of San Carlos in Pangasinan," is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SEC. 96. Participation in Elections of Provincial Officials. — The voters of the City of San Carlos shall be qualified and entitled to vote in the elections of provincial governor, vice-governor, and the members of the provincial board of the Province of Pangasinan, and any such qualified voters can be a candidate for any provincial office."
SEC. 2. Repealing Clause. — All existing laws or parts thereof inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed or modified accordingly.

SEC. 3. Effectivity. — This Act shall take effect upon its approval.

This Act which originated in the House of Representatives was finally passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate on May 9, 1989 and October 20, 1989, respectively.
