DECLARING 17 JANUARY TO 20 FEBRUARY OF EVERY YEAR AS JAMES L. GORDON MONTH IN THE CITY OF OLONGAPO, PROVINCE OF ZAMBALES



WHEREAS, James Leonard Tagle Gordon (Mr. Gordon) was born to an American father and Filipino mother on 17 January 1917, chose to be a Filipino Citizen, served the country as a Filipino,  and  focused his days in public service on fighting crime and corruption:

WHEREAS
, Mr. Gordon cared greatly for the people of t he City of Olongapo and worked on beneficial projects and general improvements for the residents of the City:

WHEREAS, Mr. Gordon served as  Mayor  of the City of Olongapo from 30 December 1963 until his untimely death on 20 February 1967 when he was assassinated at the Olongapo City Hall;

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Olongapo be given full opportunity to commemorate the leadership, achievements and invaluable service  of  Mr. Gordon  to  the City of Olongapo.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare 17 January to 20 February of every year as James L. Gordon Month in the City of Olongapo, Province of Zambales, in commemoration of the achievements and contributions of Mr. Gordon to the City of Olongapo.

IN  WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
