CREATING A COMMITTEE TO ARRANGE FOR AND TAKE CHARGE OF THE PARTICIPATION OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF THE PHILIPPINES IN THE GOLDEN GATE EXPOSITION



Whereas an international exposition will be held in San Francisco, California, during the year 1939, to which exposition countries bordering on the Pacific have been particularly invited;

Whereas this exposition offers a valuable opportunity to the Philippines, not only to show its progress and advertise its products, but to cement its friendly feelings towards the United States;

Whereas business, industrial, and agricultural elements of the Philippines are desirous of sending their products to this exposition; and
Whereas public funds are not now available for this purpose;

Now, therefore, I, Manuel L. Quezon, President of the Philippines, do hereby appoint a committee to be composed of:
Hon. Manuel Roxas, Chairman
Hon. Jorge B. Vargas, Member
Hon. Rafael Alunan, Member
Mr. Vicente Madrigal, Member
Mr. Paul V. Meyer, Member
Hon. Juan Posadas, Member
Mr. Arsenio N. Luz, Member
to take charge of the organization of the Philippine participation in the Golden Gate International Exposition of San Francisco, California, to raise funds for the purpose, through voluntary contributions or otherwise, and to make such other arrangements as may be necessary to insure a worthy and creditable participation in that exposition. This Committee shall have the power to appropriate and authorize the expenditure of the funds that may be raised for the exposition, and shall have authority to require the assistance of departments of the Government to carry out its undertaking.

Done at the City of Manila, this 19th day of November, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and thirty-eight, and of the Commonwealth of the Philippines, the fourth.
