[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 174, September 13, 1948 ]

TRANSFERRING TO THE PHILIPPINE CONSTABULARY THE 8,000 OFFICERS AND ENLISTED MEN OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE PHILIPPINES, WHO WERE ATTACHED TO THE CONSTABULARY ON JANUARY 1, 1948



WHEREAS, there were attached as of January 1, 1948, to the Philippine Constabulary 8,000 officers and enlisted men of the Armed Forces of the Philippines who were considered excess to the needs of the latter organization;

WHEREAS, there is urgent need of increasing the strength of the Philippine Constabulary to enable it to carry out effectively the campaign now being waged by the Government for the preservation of peace and order throughout the Philippines;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby transfer effective as of September 1, 1948, to the Philippine Constabulary the 8,000 officers and enlisted men of the Armed Forces of the Philippines who were attached to the Philippine Constabulary as of January 1, 1948, or such number thereof as have not since then been discharged or reverted to inactive status.

Such equipment and supplies as are now in the possession of the officers and enlisted men hereby transferred to the Philippine Constabulary and belonging to Headquarters, National Defense Forces, are hereby also transferred to the Philippine Constabulary.
