DECLARING THURSDAY, 15 JUNE 2017, AS A SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE CITY OF ANGELES, PAMPANGA



WHEREAS, on 15 June 1991, the second-largest volcanic eruption in the twentieth century occurred at Mount Pinatubo in Zambales and caused massive destruction in the Provinces of Zambales, Pampanga, Bataan, Tarlac and Nueva Ecija;

WHEREAS,
in view of rationalizing and integrating the government's rehabilitation efforts in the aftermath of this volcanic eruption, then President Corazon C. Aquino created a Task Force on the Rehabilitation of Mt. Pinatubo Eruption-Affected Areas;

WHEREAS, to render appropriate tribute to those who perished, as well as to those who survived, and those who helped in the relocation, rehabilitation and recovery of Pinatubo affected families, the City Angeles, Pampanga requested that 15 June 2017 be declared as a special (non-working) day in remembrance of the ruinos volcanic eruption of Mount Pinatubo; and

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Angeles, be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occassion with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SALVADOR C. MEDIALDEA, Executive Secretary, by authority of the President, RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE, do hereby declare Thursday, 15 June 2017, as a special (non-working) day in the City of Angeles.
