[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 26, May 04, 1936 ]

DESIGNATING THE PERMANENT CHIEF OF STAFF AND ANNOUNCING CERTAIN APPOINTMENTS OF GENERAL OFFICERS OF THE ARMY OF THE PHILIPPINES.



1. Under authority contained in sections twenty-two and twenty-three of Commonwealth Act Numbered One, known as œThe National Defense Act , the following appointments in the Army of the Philippines and their assignment to the General Staff Corps are hereby announced:

(a) Colonel Paulino Santos, retired, appointed today a Major General in the Regular Force, is hereby designated Chief of Staff, vice the Acting Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Jose de los Reyes, hereby relieved, and will immediately assumed the duties prescribed for that Office in the National Defense Act and in pertinent executive orders.

Major General Santos shall, until otherwise ordered, continue to supervise the activities of the Bureau of Prisons and will exercise all authority with respect to that Bureau now vested in him as its Director.

(b) Brigadier General Basilio J. Valdes, appointed today a Major General in the Regular Force, is hereby designated as Deputy Chief of Staff and will immediately assume the duties prescribed for that Office in the National Defense Act and in pertinent executive orders.

(c) Brigadier General Jose de los Reyes, appointed today a Major General in the Regular Force, is hereby designated Provost Marshal General and will immediately assume the duties prescribed for that Office in the National Defense Act and in pertinent executive orders.

(d) Colonel Guillermo B. Francisco, appointed today a Brigadier General in the Regular Force, is hereby designated Commanding General of the Regular Division and will immediately assume the duties prescribed for that Office in pertinent executive orders.

2. The officers herein designated shall take rank in the following order:
Major General Paulino Santos
Major General Basilio J. Valdes
Major General Jose de los Reyes
Brigadier General Guillermo B. Francisco
