DECLARING THE FIRST NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FILIPINO FAMILY LIFE FROM DECEMBER 5 TO 7, 1957, INCLUSIVE
WHEREAS, the Government recognizes the family as the fountainhead of our national life and progress and has set aside the first week of December of each year as Family Week;
WHEREAS, it is desirable and advantageous to apprise the people of the enduring values and desirable patterns of Filipino family living and to indicate lines of further improvement and strengthening of the Filipino family unit in both the rural and the urban areas; and
WHEREAS, same governmental and civic organizations have coordinated and organized themselves into a civic group known as the National Family Life Workshop, Inc., for the enhancement of the Filipino family.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Carlos P. Garcia, President of the Philippines, do hereby proclaim the First National Conference on Filipino Family Life to be held in Malaca ang Park from December 5 to 7, 1957, inclusive, under the auspices of the National Family Life Workshop, Inc. I call upon all elements of the country, governmental as well as private, including public officials and private individuals, to extend their assistance and cooperation in holding the conference, to participate therein, and work together for the improvement of the Filipino family and the stability of our nation.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
Done in the City of Manila, this 15th day of August, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-seven, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the eleventh.
