AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE TUBERCULOSIS SOCIETY TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL FUND AND EDUCATIONAL CAMPAIGN DURING THE PERIOD FROM AUGUST 19 TO SEPTEMBER 30, 1958



WHEREAS, the Philippine Tuberculosis Society is cooperating with the Government in promoting the cause of good health and general welfare by performing an essential public health service toward the control and prevention of tuberculosis in the Philippines;

WHEREAS, this pernicious diseases continues to harass our population and deplete our precious manpower so necessary to the country ™s economic survival and general advancement, thereby making it imperative for the Society to intensify its efforts in this unremitting struggle against a deadly disease; and

WHEREAS, the Society can continue pursuing its humanitarian endeavor of providing relief to thousands of TB victims through the generous financial and moral support of the whole country it seeks to serve and protect from the scourge;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Carlos P. Garcia, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Philippine Tuberculosis Society to conduct a national fund and educational drive during the period from August 19 to September 30, 1958. I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines, irrespective of nationality or creed, to assist in this humanitarian campaign by giving generously of their means so that we may keep the white plague under control. I authorize all the treasurers of provincial, city, and municipal government, as well as school officials, to accept for the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, voluntary contributions and donations and to issue official receipts therefor.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
