EXTENDING THE FUND CAMPAIGN OF THE BOY SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES FOR THE 10TH WORLD JAMBOREE
WHEREAS, under Proclamation No. 498, dated March 28, 1958, the period from July 1 to August 15, 1958, has been set aside for the Boy Scouts of the Philippines to conduct a fund campaign for the purpose of raising funds to help in the preparation and holding of the 10th World Jamboree in the Philippines, specifically in the Makiling National Park, Los Ba os, Laguna;
WHEREAS, the holding of a World Jamboree is an international event which takes place only once every four years and the selection of a nation to be the host for such a jamboree is a distinct honor vied for by 68 member nations composing the Boy Scouts International Organization;
WHEREAS, the selection of the Philippines as the site of the 10th World Jamboree is a distinct honor to our nation;
WHEREAS, the present fund campaign of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines is non-recurrent and it may not be repeated, if ever it may be repeated in the Philippines, for the next 60 or 70 years; and
WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines is in need of additional time for the successful prosecution of its fund campaign and the successful holding of the 10th World Jamboree in the Philippines.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Carlos P. Garcia, President of the Philippines, do hereby extend the national fund campaign of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines provided in Proclamation No. 498, dated March 28, 1958, until December 31, 1958.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
