ENJOINING THE HOLDING OF A RICE AND CORN PRODUCTION CONTEST FOR A PERIOD OF FOUR YEARS FROM JULY 1, 1958, TO JUNE 30, 1962



WHEREAS, it is necessary to encourage the production of rice and corn, which are the two principal staples in the Philippines, and thereby bring about a more abundant supply of food, increase our source of animal food for greater livestock production, and foster the growth of industry with corn as the basic material;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Carlos P. Garcia, President of the Philippines, do hereby enjoin the National Rice and Corn Production Contest Committee created under the Department Special Order No. 31, s. 1958, of the Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources, to undertake the holding of a rice and corn production contest every year for a period of four years from July 1, 1958, to June 30, 1962. I urge all government officials and employees to lend full support to this project by sponsoring the participation of farmers in the contest, and call upon all provincial, city, municipal, and barrio officials, especially the barrio Keutenants and school teachers, to cooperate actively with the personnel of the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources in pushing this project to a successful ending on June 30, of every year, from 1959 to 1962.
