RELAXING THE REGULATION ON THE PROHIBITION OF TAKING AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY FOR SURVEYING AND MAPPING PURPOSES



WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 2912, otherwise known as the Surveying and Mapping Act of 1960, declares as a policy that economic maps, large scale topographical maps which conform with modern standards, other special maps needed for economic development, and aeronautical charts, be produced in this country and made available for its economic development;

WHEREAS, the Board of Technical Surveys and Maps created under said law has among its powers, functions, and duties the development and encouragement of free private enterprise in the field of surveying and mapping; and

WHEREAS, aerial photography or photogrammetry is an important means of attaining and accomplishing the foregoing policy and function;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Diosdado Macapagal, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, and upon the recommendation of the Board of Technical Surveys and Maps, do hereby authorize the government agencies engaged in surveying and mapping and private entities duly registered and licensed to engage in the same activity, to take aerial photography in any part of the Philippines for purposes of surveying and mapping. Permission to take aerial photography shall be secured from the Department of National Defense upon recommendation of the Board of Technical Surveys and Maps.

Done in the City of Manila, this 20th day of August, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and sixty-two.
