ASSIGNING THE AGUINALDO MANSION IN KAWIT, CAVITE, TO THE CARE AND CUSTODY OF THE NATIONAL MUSEUM



WHEREAS, the late Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, before his demise, in a deed dated March 22, 1963, donated to the Republic of the Philippines his mansion at Kawit, Cavite, which was duly accepted by the President in representation of the Philippine Government;

WHEREAS, the Aguinaldo Mansion is of profound historical significance, hallowed by the echo of fervent but solemn voices raised as one announcing to the whole world the independence of the Philippines; it also contains valuable effects and relics testifying to the heroic struggle of the Filipino people for self rule; and

WHEREAS, it is our sacred duty that this mansion and its contents be preserved for posterity to keep forever lit our people ™s spirit of nationalism;

NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the powers vested in me, I, Diosdado Macapagal, President of the Philippines, do hereby assign the aforementioned Aguinaldo Mansion and all its contents to the care and custody of the National Museum for their protection and preservation.

Done in the City of Manila, this 13th day of March, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and sixty-four.
