WHEREAS , the first mass in the Philippines was celebrated in the Island of Limasawa, Province of Southern Leyte on 31 March 1521;

WHEREAS , Saturday, 31 March 2018, marks the commemoration of the First Mass in the Philippines in Limasawa Island, Southern Leyte; and

WHEREAS , it is but fitting and proper that the people of the Province of Southern Leyte be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SALVADOR C. MEDIALDEA, Executive Secretary, by authority of the President, RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE, do hereby declare Saturday, 31 March 2018, as a special (non-working) day in the Province of Southern Leyte,

IN WITNESS WHEREOF , I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
