AMENDING PROCLAMATION NO. 448 (S. 2003) TO DECLARE THE MONTH OF OCTOBER OF EVERY YEAR AS "NATIONAL ANTI-PIRACY MONTH"



WHEREAS, Proclamation No. 448 (s. 2003) declared the month of October of every year as "National Anti-Video Piracy Month";

WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 9239 reorganized and renamed the Videogram Regulatory Board to Optical Media Board (OMB), to regulate the optical and magnetic media industry in the country, and ensure the protection and promotion of intellectual property rights; and

WHEREAS, there is a need to continuously elevate the awareness of the public regarding piracy or counterfeiting of optical, magnetic and such other emerging similar media, and its adverse effects on the economy;

NOW THEREFORE, I, RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and existing laws, do hereby amend Proclamation No. 448 to declare the month of October of every year as "National Anti-Piracy Month."

All government agencies and instrumentalities, including state universities and colleges, as well as local government units, are enjoined to support the programs and activities of the OMB, aimed at increasing public awareness on all forms of media piracy or counterfeiting.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
