ENJOINING NATIONAL OBSERVANCE OF MANUEL QUEZON ™S BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY, SUNDAY, AUGUST 19, 1962



WHEREAS, the eighty-fourth birthday of the late President Manuel L. Quezon falls on Sunday, August 19, 1962; and

WHEREAS, our people owe a lasting debt of gratitude to the departed leader who was the successful leader of the peaceful independence movement from the United States;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Diosdado Macapagal, President of the Philippines, do hereby call upon ail our people throughout the country to observe Sunday, August 19, 1982, as National Quezon Day with appropriate ceremonies in homage to the memory of our great national leader and to inculcate upon our countrymen, especially the youth, the rights and duties of good citizenship to the end that they will consecrate themselves to the ideals and. traditions of our Republic and the advancement of the national welfare.
