DESIGNATING THE NATIONAL ECONOMIC AND DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (NEDA) AS THE COORDINATING ENTITY ON ESCAP MATTERS



WHEREAS, the Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East (ECAFE) has been reorganized as the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP);

WHEREAS, this reorganization has reemphasized the need for coordinating body whose functions are directly related with those of the ESCAP;

WHEREAS, the activities that require coordination are mostly policy decisions in the field of social and economic development, which activities are closely related to the functions of the NEDA;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby designate the NEDA as the coordinating body of the government on ESCAP matters. The Philippine Committee on ECAFE Matters created under Administrative Order No. 157 dated June 5, 1951, as amended by Administrative Order No. 25 dated September 27, 1962, is hereby abolished and its functions and records are transferred to the NEDA.
