AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE TUBERCULOSIS SOCIETY, INC., TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL FUND AND EDUCATIONAL CAMPAIGN DURING THE PERIOD FROM AUGUST 19 TO SEPTEMBER 30, 1963
WHEREAS, the high tuberculosis mortality and morbidity rates in the Philippines are serious impediments to the country s social and industrial progress;
WHEREAS, the Government has been receiving effective cooperation from the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc., in minimizing the White Plague by Waging an unceasing fight against this debilitating disease, thereby conserving the health of our people and enhancing their physical fitness for greater productivity; and
WHEREAS, the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc., needs adequate financial assistance and abundant moral encouragement in the pursuit of its humanitarian mission and in the performance of an essential public service;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Diosdado Macapagal, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc., to conduct its national fund and educational campaign during the period from August 19 to September 30, 1963.
I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines irrespective of nationality or creed, to give generously of their means so that we may protect ourselves and our children from a dreaded disease. I authorize all the treasurers of provincial, city, and municipal governments, as well as school officials to accept, for the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc., voluntary contributions and donations and to issue official receipts therefor, and enjoin them to participate actively in this charitable endeavor by lending it their utmost support and cooperation.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
