DESIGNATING THE PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 15 TO DECEMBER 31, 1963, AS THE PERIOD FOR THE NATIONAL FUND CAMPAIGN OF THE GIRL SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES IN PLACES OUTSIDE GREATER MANILA
WHEREAS, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines is a vital and potent force for youth development through its program of character building and citizenship training of Filipino girls;
WHEREAS, the Girl Scout Movement has expanded its program to provide the same opportunities and benefits of Girl Scouting to the out-of-school, the underprivileged, and the handicapped to enable them to take their rightful place in society;
WHEREAS, the Girl Scout Organization aims to expand its arts and crafts training centers in all the regions for active participation of the youth in the economic progress of the country through the development of cottage industries;
WHEREAS, through its five-year Camping Plan, the Girl Scouts Organization (seeks to establish camping centers for the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of young girls, and to develop such qualities as resourcefulness, initiative, and self-reliance;
WHEREAS, the Girl Scouting Movement has fostered service consciousness among the youth through its service aid programs by giving national awards and incentives to such worthy Girl Scout community service projects as each-one-teach-one drive against illiteracy, community beautifications, health and safety campaigns, etc; and
WHEREAS, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines as a member of a world organization has brought prestige and honor to the country through its participation in world conferences and international youth events, thereby contributing effectively to international understanding and friendship, and consequently, world peace;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Diosdado Macapagal, President of the Philippines, by authority vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Girl Scouts of the Philippines to conduct a national fund drive during the period from November 15 to December 31, 1963, in the provinces and territories outside of Greater Manila. I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines outside of Greater Manila to assist wholeheartedly in this campaign and to give their utmost support so that the Girl Scouts of the Philippines may be assured of adequate funds with which to carry on its work.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
