AUTHORIZING THE MEDICAL RESEARCH FOUNDATION OF THE PHILIPPINES, INC., TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL AND FUND CAMPAIGN DURING THE PERIOD FROM FEBRUARY 11 TO APRIL 11, 1964.



WHEREAS, the progress of medical research in the Philippines today has lagged in comparison with other countries in the world and therefore is a matter of nation-wide concern;

WHEREAS, the Medical Research Foundation of the Philippines, Inc., conscious of the need to solve some medical problems inherent among our people, organized itself to subsidize and encourage medical research work in the Philippines;

WHEREAS, this Foundation aims to facilitate medical research work by providing special equipment for medical researchers and to make use of available local raw materials in the manufacture of certain pharmaceuticals;

WHEREAS, medical research work, if fully exploited, may gain for the Philippines international prestige; and

WHEREAS, this Foundation, in order to implement its objectives and spearhead the move along medical research work, will need financial assistance from all sectors of the country;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Diosdado Macapagal, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me spy law, do hereby authorize the Medical Research Foundation of the Philippines, Inc., to conduct a national educational and fund campaign from February 11 to April 11, 1964. I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines, irrespective of nationality, race or creed, to assist in this worthwhile campaign by giving generously of their means so that it may be a complete success. I also authorize and call on all national, provincial, city and municipal government officials and employees to extend full and unconditional cooperation to make this campaign a success.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to the affixed.
