[ PROCLAMATION NO. 73, June 14, 1948 ]
MAKING PUBLIC THE APPROVAL AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION AND THE PROTOCOL CONCERNING THE OFFICE INTERNATIONAL D HYGIENE PUBLIQUE, NINETEEN HUNDRED AND FORTY-SIX.
WHEREAS, the Republic of the Philippines is an original member of the United Nations and as such may become a member of the World Health Organization and a party to the Protocol concerning the Office International d Hygiene Publique by signing or otherwise accepting the Constitution of the World Health Organization and the aforesaid Protocol subject to its constitutional procedure;
WHEREAS, the duly authorized representatives of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines had already signed the Constitution of the World Health Organization and the Protocol concerning the Office International d Hygiene Publique in the City of New York, United States of America, on July 22, 1946, subject to approval in accordance with its constitutional process; and
WHEREAS, the Senate of the Philippines, by its Resolution No. 51, adopted on May 10; 1948, has given its concurrence to the approval and acceptance by the President of the Republic of the Philippines of the Constitution of the World Health Organization and the Protocol concerning the Office International d Hygiene Publique;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it known that I, Elpidio Quirino, President of the Republic of the Philippines, do hereby proclaim and make public, in pursuance of the aforesaid concurrence of the Senate of the Philippines, the approval and acceptance for his Government of the Republic of the Philippines of the Constitution of the World Health Organization and the Protocol concerning the Office International d Hygiene Publique, which was signed for the Republic of the Philippines in New York City, United States of America, on July 22, 1946, a certified copy of which is hereto attached, to the end that the same and every article and clause thereof may be observed and fulfilled with good faith by the Republic of the Philippines and the citizens thereof.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
