DECLARING SATURDAY, APRIL 16, 1949, A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY
WHEREAS, a petition has been received from the Bankers Association of the Philippines requesting that the sixteenth day of April, nineteen hundred and forty-nine, be declared a special bank holiday;
WHEREAS, the fourteenth day (Holy Thursday) and the fifteenth day (Good Friday) of April, nineteen hundred and forty-nine, being public holidays, the sixteenth day (Saturday) of April, nineteen hundred and forty-nine, may be declared a special public holiday to the great advantage of the banking houses and without any disadvantage to the public in general;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by section 30 of the Revised Administrative Code, and there being in my judgment sufficient reasons therefor, do hereby proclaim Saturday, April sixteenth, nineteen hundred and forty-nine, as a special public holiday.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
Done in the City of Manila, this 8th day of April, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-nine, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the third.
