[ PROCLAMATION NO. 138, August 30, 1949 ]
DECLARING THE TWENTY FOURTH DAY OF OCTOBER OF EVERY YEAR AS UNITED NATIONS DAY.
WHEREAS, Proclamation No. 98, dated October 15, 1948, designated the twenty-fourth day of October of said year as United Nations Day; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to observe United Nations Day every year so that the people may appreciate better the aims and achievements of the United Nations;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of the Philippines, do hereby amend Proclamation No. 98, dated October 15, 1948, by declaring the twenty-fourth day of October of every year as United Nations Day.
The Department of Foreign Affairs shall take charge of making arrangements for the annual observance of United Nations Day.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
Done in the City of Manila, this 30th day of August, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-nine, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the fourth.
