[ PROCLAMATION NO. 316, May 21, 1952 ]

PROVIDING FOR THE ELECTION OF THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNORS OF LANAO, BUKIDNON, COTABATO, SULU AND MOUNTAIN PROVINCE.



WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 59 has declared the offices of governor and members of the provincial boards in Lanao, Bukidnon, Cotabato, Sulu and Mountain Province to be elective when the President of the Philippines shall have ascertain and shall so declare by proclamation that the people of said provinces are ready to elect said officials;

WHEREAS, under Proclamations Nos. 34, 35, 36, 37, and 38, all dated August 26, 1947, the election of the members of the provincial boards in Lanao, Bukidnon, Cotabato, Sulu and Mountain Province was authorized in the regular election for provincial offices held on November 11, 1947, as an initial step in the establishment therein of a system of government similar in every respect to the government of regular provinces; and

WHEREAS, it appears that the people of said provinces are now ready to elect their governors;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of the Philippines, pursuant to the authority vested in me by Republic Act No. 59, do hereby authorize the election of the provincial governors of Lanao, Bukidnon, Cotabato, Sulu and Mountain Province in the next regular election for provincial offices throughout the Philippines, in accordance with the provisions of Revised Election Code, as amended.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
