DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM JULY 14 TO JULY 20, 1952, AS NATIONAL PLANTING WEEK



WHEREAS, the Philippines being essentially ah agricultural country, the soil may well be regarded as the very foundation of our national economy;

WHEREAS, one of our main and immediate objectives is to achieve self-sufficiency in our basic foodstuffs; and

WHEREAS, the attainment of this objective could be accelerated by intensifying planting activities;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from July 14 to July 20, 1952, as National Planting Week, and designate the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources to take charge of, and coordinate, all activities in commemoration of said Week.

I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines, of whatever race, nationality or creed, to undertake during said Week such planting activities as would strengthen the national economy, and I enjoin all governors, city mayors and officers and employees of the national and local governments to extend their assistance and cooperation in the celebration to give it full force and effect.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
