MAKING PUBLIC THE MUTUAL DEFENSE TREATY BETWEEN THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.



WHEREAS, a Mutual Defense Treaty between the Republic of the Philippines and the United States of America was concluded and signed at Washington by their respective Plenipotentiaries on the thirtieth day of August, nineteen hundred and fifty-one;

WHEREAS, the Senate of the Philippines, by its Resolution No. 84, adopted on May 12, 1952, concurred in the making of the aforesaid Mutual Defense Treaty in accordance with the Constitution of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, the said Treaty has been ratified on both parts, and the instruments of ratification of the two High Contracting Parties were exchanged at Manila on the twenty-seventh day of August, nineteen hundred and fifty-two; and

WHEREAS, it is stipulated in the said Treaty that it will come into force when instruments of ratification thereof have been exchanged at Manila;

NOW, THEREFORE, be it known that I, Elpidio Quirino, President of the Philippines, have caused the said Treaty, a certified copy of which is hereto attached, to be made public to the end that the same and every article and clause thereof may be observed and fulfilled with good faith by the Republic of the Philippines and the citizens thereof.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 2nd day of October, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-two, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the seventh.
