MAKING PUBLIC THE INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION FOR THE SAFETY OF LIFE AT SEA, 1948



WHEREAS, a Convention to replace the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1929, was concluded and signed at London on June 10, 1948, by the authorized representatives of thirty countries, including the Philippines;

WHEREAS, the Senate of the Philippines, by its Resolution No. 94, adopted on May 20, 1952, concurred in the acceptance by the President of the Philippines of the aforementioned International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea in accordance with the Constitution of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, the said Convention was duly accepted by the President of the Philippines, and the instrument of acceptance thereof was deposited with the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on October 2, 1952, in accordance with the provisions of Article XV thereof; and

WHEREAS, the said Convention entered into force for the Philippines on November 19, 1952;

NOW, THEREFORE, be it known that I, Elpidio Quirino, President of the Philippines, in pursuance of the aforesaid concurrence of the Senate of the Philippines, do hereby make public the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, a true copy of which is hereto attached, which was concluded and signed at London on June 10, 1948, to the end that the same and every article and clause thereof may be observed and fulfilled with good faith by the Republic of the Philippines and the citizens thereof.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
