DECLARING THE LAST WEEK OF OCTOBER, 1953, AS PROFESSIONAL WEEK



WHEREAS, it is desirable that services of professional men and women be rendered with maximum efficiency, conformably with the latest progress achieved in the arts, sciences, or technology, and in keeping with the well-recognized ethical rules in the practice of the different professions;

WHEREAS, the growing participation and responsibilities of professionals in the life of the community demand that a period be set aside dedicated to the attainment of higher ethical standards and improved professional skill and knowledge;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of the Philippines, do hereby proclaim the last week of October, 1953, as Professional Week. All professional groups falling under the board of examiners, the various bar associations, the different universities and colleges offering courses for the practice of professions are hereby enjoined to observe this week with appropriate celebrations intended to lay the groundwork for the coordination of the different activities and services of the members of each profession to the end that such services may be improved for the good of all and that there be a reappraisal and renovation of professional, moral, social and spiritual values as important factors affecting the lives of professional men and women of this country.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 8th day of October, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-three, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the eighth.
