[ PROCLAMATION NO. 26, June 16, 1947 ]

DESIGNATING THE PERIOD FROM SEPTEMBER 15 TO OCTOBER 31, 1947 AS THE PERIOD FOR THE NATIONAL FUND CAMPAIGN OF THE GIRL SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES.



WHEREAS, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines, a public corporation created by Commonwealth Act No. 542 for the purpose of helping girls from 7 to 18  years of age to realize the ideals of womanhood as a preparation for their responsibilities in the home and service to the community, plans to conduct a national fund campaign for funds with which to maintain finance and promote its various activities to attain the objectives for which it was created;

WHEREAS, in recognition of the splendid  accomplishments in character development and in promoting the moral and bodily welfare of the Filipino girls, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines deserves to receive the continued moral  and material encouragement and support on the part of our people so that it may be able to carry on its laudable work effectively;

WHEREAS, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines needs financial assistance to enable it to meet not only its essential requirements as an independent organization but also the necessary expenses that would be entailed in connection with the selection of the Philippines as the hostess country for the Juliette Low International Camp for girl scouts all over the world;

WHEREAS, the proposed fund campaign will afford our people the rare privilege and opportunity to express in a tangible way their appreciation of the good work being undertaken by the Girl Scouts of the Philippines;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Manuel Roxas, President of the Philippines, do hereby designate and set aside the period from September 15 to October 31, 1947 as a special one for the conduct of the 1947 National Fund Campaign of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines to raise funds for the purposes mentioned above.  I also call upon all government officials and employees and all citizens and residents of  the Philippines to assist in this campaign and to give their whole-hearted support and cooperation so that the organization may be assured of funds sorely needed to carry on its work in every part of the Philippines.

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
