DECLARING WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 31, 1947, A SPECIAL BANK HOLIDAY



WHEREAS, a petition has been received from the Manila Clearing House Association requesting that the thirty-first day of December, nineteen hundred and forty-seven, be declared a bank holiday so as to enable the banks to continue without interruption the heavy work incident to the closing of their accounts at the end of the year;

WHEREAS, the thirtieth day of December, nineteen hundred and forty-seven, and the first day of January, nineteen hundred and forty-eight, being public holidays, the thirty-first day of December, nineteen hundred and forty-seven, may be declared a special bank holiday to the great advantage of the banks and no disadvantage will result to the public in general;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Manuel Roxas, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by section 30 of the Revised Administrative Code, do hereby proclaim Wednesday, December the thirty-first, nineteen hundred and forty-seven, as a special bank holiday.

Done at the City of Manila, this 27th day of December, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-seven, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the second.
