[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 779, June 21, 1952 ]
AN ACT GRANTING COMPENSATION EQUIVALENT TO SIX MONTHS' PAY TO THE SPOUSE OR MINOR LEGITIMATE CHILDREN OR PARENTS OF ANY ELECTIVE PROVINCIAL, CITY OR MUNICIPAL OFFICIAL WHO DIES DURING HIS OR HER TERM OF OFFICE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:
SECTION 1. Upon the death of any elective provincial, city or municipal official, receiving a fixed salary, during his or her term of office, and upon proof of his or her death, said province, city or municipality is hereby authorized to grant compensation equivalent to six month’s salary of the deceased official, to the unmarried surviving spouse and his or her unmarried minor legitimate children or to his or her parents if the deceased official is single: Provided, however, That when any such official is entitled to retirement or gratuity under any other law, the surviving spouse shall not be entitled to the benefits of this Act.
SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
